FINAL WORK AND PROCESS
Colorado Neurodiversity Chamber of Commerce
(CNDCC) Final Logo Design, 2022 Digital
Brief: Create a logo that incorporates inclusivity, symbolizes neurodiversity and includes the Colorado state flag
PROCESS/ ITERATIONS
Originally, I designed the logo focusing on the “C” within the state flag. I paired the red and yellow for high contrast with navy blue in the center. My inspiration was a brain neuron since the CNDCC mission revolves around, “provid(ing) strategies and opportunities to optimize business growth by building an authentically diverse and equality-based workplace…” The neuron symbolizes diversity in people’s skills
However, the logo did not translate to black and white. The colors quickly obscured themselves when converted to grey-scale.
Next, I experimented with the infinity sign which symbolizes inclusivity within the neurodivergent community. Still, I ran into the same grey-scale issue with the blue and red ribbon.
After discussing alternative concepts with marketing. We decided to further refine the infinity logo:

Brief: Redesign Mikey’s Wish Foundation logo to encapsulate the new “Communication Station” communication board project. Be sure to include the color blue since it represents the Apraxia and Dyspraxia communities. The foundation would like the final design to revolve around a Dandelion which drives home the idea of a “wish” coming true.
Mission: Raising awareness of verbal dyspraxia/apraxia.
PROCESS/ ITERATIONS
When creating the logo, I drew inspiration SLP Mommy of Apraxia who uses a family photo for her logo. I decided on recreating a cartoon version of a child blowing out a Dandelion. Mikey’s and SLP’s audience mainly consists of parents looking for resources, inspiration and insights when it comes to raising their Apraxic childhood. Therefore, an image of a child would resonate with the target audience.
Additionally, a child’s presence subconsciously builds empathy for potential donors and investors as seen on Saint Jude’s Children Hospital fundraising television commercials. The hospital raised over $2billion in 2021 alone (https://www.propublica.org/article/st-jude-hoards-billions-while-many-of-its-families-drain-their-savings/amp).
After reviewing the initial sketch, the foundation asked for a minimalistic approach. It was requested that I do a blue outlined silhouette of a child’s face along with drawing inspiration from the communication station board

The foundation did find my concept overcrowded and suggested that I tried a rectangular shape. I also reduced the color pallet down to black and blue to avoid illegibility when shrunk. This is the recent prototype.
Planet Roofing and Solar logo, 2022 Digital
Brief: Create a logo that encapsulates the modern environmental-friendly aspect of clean energy. This logo must highlight Planet Roofing and Solar’s modernized branding while remaining recognizable as a solar panel installation company. Additionally, it must differentiate Planet Roofing and Solar from its top competitors including Sun Run.
PROCESS/ ITERATIONS
Originally, I made the logo a text logo with the addition of the sun. However, it got easily confused with Sun Run’s text logo.
I tried an alternative solution that included changing the text to a navy blue. This way Planet Roofing and Solar’s logo did not rely on the cliche green theme often used in environmental campaigns. After a peer review, it was noted that the house itself resembled the letter “M” or a dinner fork. Therefore the Gestalt principle distracted from the solar panel theme.
After presenting my three logo solutions. Planet Roofing and Solar selected the third option (pictured above). This logo communicated Planet Roofing and Solar’s environmental-friendly message will breaking away from the slanted roof-top imagery used in most solar installations company’s logos.
